Azithromycin is a macrolide antibacterial drug. An antibiotic, the tablet medicines are used to treat bacterial infection in the body.  The medication is safe to be used during pregnancy under doctor’s direct guidance. The tablet gets easily absorbed by the body and you can see good results. It is helpful in cases of a bacterial infection causing:

• Strep throat
• Pneumonia
• Traveller’s diarrhoea
• bacterial intestinal infections
• Sexually transmitted bacterial infections like Chlamydia and gonorrhoea infections
• Malaria (combined with other drug dosages) etc

It is not effective in cases of viral infections like a common cold. If taken in combination with other drugs, it can help treat Mycobacterium avium complex infection.
